“We are very familiar with Persian and Indian cuisine. Afghan foods share common flavors with these cultures, using herbs that bring out the best out of lamb, beef and chicken true to middle eastern flavors. Fremont Kabob serves delicious meals using halal meat that tickles your taste buds. Tonight, we started with the eggplant appetizer along side the complimentary the flat bread. My wife ordered the lamb shank stewed in a tomato garlic sauce. I opted for two kabobs (beef and lamb). Both came with white basmati rice that was cooked to perfection. Service was quick. Food was delicious and ambiance gave a cozy feel, accepting all who want a taste of Afghan delicacies. Table settings were covered with white paper adding a bit of elegance, aligning with fine dining establishment. I have to admit, I'm a cutlery snob so "cheap" cutlery is often something that tarnishes my overall dining experience. Call it a pet peeve, but straight edges hurt my hand and cheap cutlery often are stamped cut metal. Despite this, I would still return to try other dishes and perhaps bring my own cutlery to use. I highly recommend this Afghan restaurant.”
— Carlos Mangrobang“We ordered takeout from Fremont Afghan Kabob and tried the potato bolani and spinach curry, which came with rice. One thing we appreciated was that they asked about the spice level for the bolani—mild, medium, or spicy. We got mild and medium, and both were delicious. The bolani came with yogurt and mint chutney, which was decent but not particularly standout. The restaurant is right next to Chat Bhavan, and the parking lot is small, so it can get a bit crowded at times. However, the staff was fantastic, and the seating arrangement was comfortable and pleasant for dining in. Overall, we would definitely come back to try more dishes. Great food, great service—just a bit of a challenge with parking!”
— vinod palan“Has been my 5 star spot for kabob for many, many years and I’ve always loved the chicken qabili palao, but lately, the flavor of this dish has gotten progressively more bland in addition to getting less actual chicken in it. I’d say it has roughly half the amount of meat that it used to have 5 years ago and has steadily decreased from then. The lamb is still quite good but it is a real shame about my favorite dish…”
— Taka“This place was okay overall. The beef kebab was good and flavorful, but unfortunately, the baklava tasted rancid to the point that we couldn’t eat it, which was very disappointing. The atmosphere didn’t feel very welcoming, and the staff seemed unfriendly and not very engaged. Considering that they position themselves as a restaurant, the price-to-service ratio feels overpriced. There is definitely room for improvement, especially in service and atmosphere.”
